Modern architecture loves glass.
Large surfaces.
Open spaces.
Lots of light.
In Dalmatia as well.
And this is where an issue appears
that many only understand later.
Heat does not form inside.
It forms before.
When sunlight hits glass
it acts like an amplifier.
Light passes through.
Heat stays inside.
What feels pleasant outside
quickly becomes too much indoors.
Many try to fix this later.
With air conditioning.
With interior blinds.
With darkening.
This helps.
But too late.
The energy is already inside.
The key difference happens outside.
Exterior sun protection stops sunlight
before it reaches the glass.
Not after.
Not inside.
Before.
This reduces heat build up significantly.
And relieves everything else.
Why this works especially well in Dalmatia.
The sun is intense.
And it shines for long hours.
Large glass surfaces
are common here.
Moving protection inside
means fighting physics.
Placing it outside
means using physics.
What this changes in daily life.
Rooms stay more stable.
Temperatures fluctuate less.
Air conditioning runs calmer.
And the feeling of openness remains.
No darkness.
No closing off.
Just control.
My conclusion on glass surfaces.
Glass brings light.
But also responsibility.
If you build generously in Dalmatia
do not see sun protection
as an afterthought.
See it as part of the glass concept.
That keeps architecture light.
And living comfortable.
